All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Margaret Kittrell Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Etta Johnson Kittrell, 85, who died Friday at Williamsburg, Va., were conducted at the Oakland Christian Church at 3:30 p.m., yesterday by Dr. I.W. Johnson. A choir sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and Miss Elsie Darden sang a solo, "Death Is Only a Dream." Mrs. I.W. Johnson was the accompanist. Widow of the late W.E. Kittrell, she is survived by one son, E.O. Garner, of Nansemond County, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was a life-long resident of Nansemond County. Pallbearers were E.W. Cutchins, W.O. Cutchins, J.A. Cutchins, Claude Hines, Ralph Johnson, Letcher, R.F., and J.R. Johnson. D.Cert. 16191 (Williamsburg #98) gives b. Mar 1861, Nansemond Co., daughter of Abraham & Margaret (HEDGEPETH) JOHNSON. Her parents, Abram Peter & Margaret (HEDGEPETH) JOHNSON, are buried in a JOHNSON family cemetery. Site not known (Jun 2024) to the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project. Apparently Margaret Etta is the unnamed female, age 5 months. Her family appears in the 1900 Census - Chuckatuck Dist., Nansemond Co. - on Owned Free Farm #114; parents m. 50 years, 6 of 9 children surviving. Etta GARNER appears as widowed, with only child, son B.O. GARNER. Benjamin Ocie GARNER (1889 - 1974) is buried in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
