Hugh Day Kelly, son of Jacob Holladay Kelly, and the late Mamie Brothers Kelly, died at the Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Va., yesterday afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of his father, 200 N. Broad street, Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle officiating. Mr. Kelly is survived by his widow, who was Miss Bernice Harraway, of Danville; two brothers, Jacob H. Kelly, Jr., of Great Bridge, Va., and Patrick Kelley, of this city; four sisters, Miss Mamie Kelly, Mrs. Harry Shea, Mrs. Julian Daughtrey and Miss Elizabeth Kelly, of Suffolk; two nephews and one niece. Active pallbearers are cousins of the deceased, Ernest Jones, Herman Jones, William Jones, Claude Dennis, Jr., L.H. Norfleet, Jr., Carroll Goodrich, of Smithfield, Dr. Wood Campbell and R.H. Brinkley. Friends of Mr. Kelly are requested to act as honorary pallbearers. The body of Mr. Kelly was brought to Suffolk this morning from Richmond where he died as the result of gas apshyxiation, it is thought. Although there has been talk of foul play in connection with his injuries, the Richmond police appear not to have placed any credence in this report which has been circulated here. Hugh Kelly was very popular here and his death has caused widespread regret among his host of friends.
