KILBY'S DEATH. - Dr. John Thompson Kilby, one of the most venerable and accomplished physicians of Suffolk, died yesterday morning at 4:30 o'clock, at the residence on Main street. Dissolution was caused by a general physical exhaustion resulting from a complication of chronic diseases, and can be ascribed to no one specific ailment. He had been an invalid for several months. He was born in Suffolk seventy years ago and with the exception of a few intervals of absence has been a lifelong resident. After graduating with honor he began the practice of medicine about 1848 and shortly alterwards increased his knowledge of the profession by foreign travel and attendance at lectures of prominent instructors in Paris. Returning he practiced his chosen calling for nearly half a century with marked success. He has also been medical examiner for prominent life insurance companies in this section. He was well- known and much liked throughout Nansemond and adjoining counties. Seven children survive him as follows: Mesdames W.E. Hines, J.C. Smith and H.E. Elam, of Suffolk; Mrs. S.R. Dunn, of Philadelphia, aud Messrs. J.T., Matt and C.H. Kilby, all of this section. The funeral will take place at 4:30 p.m. to day from his late residence, Rev. John N. McCormick officiating. The physicians of the town met last night and drafted suitable resolutions commemorating his demise.
