JAMES EDWARD KING 

   SUFFOLK - James Edward King, 83, a retired farmer, died April 20, in a 
Franklin hospital.

   Mr. King, a native of Nansemond County, was a member of Cypress Chapel 
Christian Church.

   Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Baines King; a daughter, Rose K. 
Raiford, and a brother, Moscoe J. King, both of Suffolk; three granddaughters, 
Patricia Hundley and Kaye Raiford, both of Suffolk, and Kathy Gavin of 
Franklin, three great-grandchildren and three nephews.

   The graveside service was conducted Wednesday in Cypress Chapel Christian 
Church Cemetery by the Revs. Willis Dowling and R.E. Brittle.  Wright Funeral 
Home handled arrangements.
