E. Church. Funeral services for Horace Benton [sic; Burton] Knight, of Whaleyville, who died at his residence in that village early this morning, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at the Whaleyville Methodist Church at 3:30 o'clock with the Rev. J.S. Maxey officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. J.R. Taylor and Dr. W.W. Staley. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Knight was born June 25, 1895, and had been a resident of the Whaleyville community for some time [sic*]. He saw service overseas during the World War, serving in the 29th division, Company A. He leaves besides his widow, who was before her marriage, Miss Annie Ruffin Beamon, of Franklin, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.O. [sic; T.O.] Knight, both of Whaleyville; two brothers, Frank Knight, of Whaleyville, and Dr. Thos. Esten [sic; Estin] Knight, of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. L.C. Doughtry [sic; Daughtrey], of Mica, Va.; five aunts, Mrs. I.W. Johnson, Mrs. J.B. Crocker, Mrs. C.O. Harrell, and Mrs. Roscoe Benton, all of this city, and Mrs. Ida Brinkley, of Corapeake; one uncle, Dr. Will Knight, of Newport News. ****************************************************************************** Knight Funeral Is Held At Whaleyville Active pallbearers for Horace Knight, whose funeral was conducted yesterday at the Whaleyville Methodist Church, were P. Doughtery [sic; Dougherty], J.R. Odom, W.W. Sewall, Charles L. Parker, J.T. Umphlett, A.S. Whichard, Surry Parker, S.R. Walters, P.M. Taylor, W.T. Howell, William Ogle, R.C. Norfleet, Thomas Arthur and P.T. Howell.
