L. Luke, in the county, today at 3:45 a. m. He had been ill only a few days. Mr. Luke was the sone of the late Elizabeth Pruden and William Luke. He was long active in the Suffolk Christian church and its Baraca class. The body was brought to Suffolk this afternoon and will remain at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. H. Babb, 232 Pinner street, until the hour of funeral services Thursday. Funeral services will be held at Suffolk Christian church Thursday at 3:30 p. m., with the Rev. Dr. John G. Truitt, pastor conducting the rites, assisted by the Rev. H. S. Hardcastle, of Norfolk, the Rev. Dr. H. J. Goodwin, pastor of First Baptist church, and the Rev. R. E. Brittle, of Cypress Chapel. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. Mr. Luke is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. S. H. Babb and Miss Emma Luke of Suffolk; Mrs. S. W. Powell of Nansemond county, Mrs. J. M. Johnson, of Newport News; E. L. Luke of Nansemond county, E. C. Luke, of Suffolk and R. C. Luke, of Newport News. Also 15 grandchildren and one great great grandchild. ----------------- MORTUARY GEORGE T. LUKE Funeral services for George Thomas Luke were held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Suffolk Christian church conducted by the Rev. Dr. John G. Truitt, Dr. H. J. Goodwin and the Rev. R. E. Brittle. A quartette rendered the hymns, "Sometime We'll Understand," "Meet Me There," and "Abide With Me." There were many beautiful floral tributes. The casket was covered with a pall of ascension lilies and fern. Active pallbearers were grandsons and nephews of the deceased: Causey Luke, Edgar Luke, S. H. Babb, Jr., S. W. Powell, Jr., Claude Luke, Jr., Clifton Joyner, Smith Joyner and Elem Copeland. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Interment was in Cedar Hill cemetery.
