LEE DIES SUDDENLY ________ Sitting in His Home When Without Warning the End Came - [...] ________ Suffolk, Va., March 12. - (Special.) - [...] OLD SOLDIER DROPS DEAD. Mr. Elisha E. Lee, one of Nansemond's most noted citizens, and a large truck grower, fell dead last night about 9 o'clock at his home, in Lower Parish. He was sitting in a chair reading a paper, when suddenly he toppled over. In a few minutes his breath was gone. He lived long enough to be put on a bed. Mr. Lee had been in feeble health for a year or more, being affected with heart trouble, but at supper time last night he was as well as usual. THE FUNERAL. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon from his late home and will be conducted by the Revs. N.G. Newman and W.W. Staley, D.D. The interment will be in the old family burying ground. The deceased was a member of Berea Christian church, and of Harmony Lodge No. 149, A.F. and A.M. He was a Confederate veteran, who did service in Company I, Twentieth Virginia Cavalry. He was nearly 69 years old. Mr. Lee leaves a sorrowing wife and two daughters, Miss Dollner Lee and Mrs. James Tourtellot, of Providence, R.I., who was married two weeks ago, and who is still in Florida spending her honeymoon. He was a brother of Captain P.H. Lee, of this county, and John Lee, of Florida, a brother-in-law of Colonel A. Savage and John W. Lawrence, of Nansemond, and an uncle of Mrs. E.E. Holland, of Suffolk; Mrs. William M. Jones, of Norfolk; Mrs. J. P. Gay, of Franklin, and Willis J. Lee, of thiscounty.
