All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EUGENE LEE LUKE HOLD LAST RITES FOR EUGENE LUKE - CONDUCTED AT BETHLEHEM YESTERDAY, BURIAL IN CEDAR HILL CEMETERY Funeral services for Eugene Lee Luke were held Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Bethlehem Christian church, conducted by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, Dr. J.G. Truitt, and the Rev. J.C. Dollar, of Newport News, Va. A quartette composed of Mrs. J.G. Truitt, Mrs. Randolph Chapman, R.A. Harrell, and Marshall Harrell, accompanied by Mrs. W.A. Daughtrey, sang the hymns "Sometime We’ll Understand," and "Meet Me There". A solo, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," was sung by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. There were many handsome floral tributes, and the casket was covered with a pall of orchid and white gladiolias and fern. Active pallbearers were J.T. Boyce, J.D. Boyce, Gibson Boyce, S.H. Babb, Jr., R.C. Luke, Jr., Causey Luke, Sidney Powell, Jr., and Chesley Powell. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Taylor Progressive Bible Class, members of the Sunday school, and friends of the family. Burial was in Cedar Hill cemetery.
