ELIZABETH LUKE Suffolk, Va., March 8. - Mrs. Elizabeth Luke, a well-known resident of the county, died yesterday at her home near Myrtle. She was 82 years old. She is survived by three sons, A.H. Luke, of Suffolk; S.A. and H.S. Luke, of Myrtle; Mrs. Walter Eason, of Suffolk, is a granddaughter of the deceased. The funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence by Rev. H.H. Butler. The 1900 Census - Chuckatuck Dist., Nansemond Co. - gives m. 20 years, 3 of 7 children surviving. Rather, they m. 16 Feb 1854. Her husband was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Riddick's Co., 59th VA Militia, and in Co. I, 1st SC Infantry. Luke, 1st South Carolina Infantry, Company L, Private, who died Oct. 18, 1862 in a Richmond hospital; Dr. James M. Gibson certified James died of the infirmities of age, with organic heart disease.
