Former Mayor Of Holland Very Ill 

  The great number of friends of Isaac A. Luke, former mayor of Holland and 
one of the leading citizens of that community, will be depressed to hear of 
his illness.  Mr. Luke has been confined to his bed at his home for a number 
of days.  It is hoped that his recovery will be speedy.

FORMER HOLLAND MAYOR IS DEAD 

Isaac A. Luke, One of the Best Known and Prominent Citizens of The Town, 
   Passes After Long Illness. 

  Isaac A. Luke, aged 46 [sic; 64] years, prominent citizen of Holland, died 
at his residence in that town last night at 7 o'clock following an illness 
of several months. 

  Mr. Luke is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Holland Luke, and two sons, 
Howard A. and Isaac H. Luke, and one sister, Mrs. Alice L. Sykes, of Hickory. 

  Mr. Luke was a prominent merchant in Holland and had held the postmastership 
for a number of terms.  Besides the mercantile business Mr. Luke was 
interested in the peanut industry and had banking connections with several 
institutions.  Mr. Luke was also the first mayor of the town. 

  The deceased was also a prominent member of the Holland Christian Church, 
being a deacon and a member of the official board. 

  Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the hour of this publication.
