Girl, 6, Accidentally Killed by Rifle Slug 

  A six-year-old Nansemond County girl was shot and killed about 6 p.m Tuesday 
in an accident which occurred at her home on the Buckhorn Rd., near Holland. 

  Deborah Jo Lynn reportedly died almost instantly when a .22 calibre rifle at 
the time of the accident [held by her sister] Patricia, 13, discharged, 
striking Deborah in the head. 

  The two children and another sister, Connie, were playing with the rifle at 
the time of the accident.  Deborah was standing in a chair and Patricia aimed 
the rifle above the younger child's head.  Deborah reportedly grabbed the 
rifle barrel and pulled it downward, and the weapon went off. 

  The child is survived by her parents, Lewis William and Mildred Blythe Lynn; 
three other sisters, Donna Denice of the home, Mrs. Brenda Rose Wright of the 
Holland Rd., and Mrs. Annie Dell Bryant of Smithfield; a brother, Lewis 
Richard Lynn of the home; her maternal grandfather, C.R. Blythe of Franklin; 
and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Lynn of 1119 Windsor Rd. 

  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the I.O. Hill & Co. 
Funeral Home by the Rev. M.V. Hale, pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. 
Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
