Lankford Succumbs at 77 Stephen Herbert Lankford, 77, died early this morning at his home on Wellons Street following a long illness. He was the son of the late Stephen and Sally Bunn Lankford, of Southampton County, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Stone Lankford, and a brother, Elisha Lankford, of Franklin. Mr. Lankford made his home in Franklin until he moved to Suffolk 15 years ago. He was a retired merchant and member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Baker Funeral Home with Rev. R.L. Stephenson officiating. Burial is to be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** DEATH OF STEPHEN H. LANKFORD Stephen H. Lankford, 77, retired merchant, died early Monday [sic; Tuesday] morning, April 1, at his home on Wellons Street, Suffolk, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Stephen and Sallie Bunn Lankford of this town, and conducted a furniture and clothing business here for many years. About fifteen years ago he moved to Suffolk, where he had since resided. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Flora [sic; Annie Mae] Lankford, and a brother, Elisha Lankford, of Franklin. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the R.W. Baker Funeral Home, Suffolk, by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor of the deceased, followed by interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
