McCLENNY Mrs. Charlotte Emily Lyon McClenny, 64, a member of a well known family of this section, and prominently connected thoroughout the county by marriages, died last night in a local hospital after an illness of ten days. Mrs. McClenny was a native of Buffalo, N.Y., but had spent her life since girlhood in Nansemond county. Surviving her are her husband, W. Baxter McClenny, a daughter, Miss Phoebe Lyon McClenny, of Nansemond county, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company where it will remain until tomorrow at 10 o'clock, at which time it will be taken to her late residence near Buckhorn. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at the Western Branch Baptist church, at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. M.V. Carroll. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. W. B. L. [sic; W. B.] McClenny Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Emily L. McClenny, wife of W. Baxter McClenny, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Western Branch Baptist Church, by the Rev. W.V. Carroll. The church choir accompanied by Miss Nellie May Nelms sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee," and "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me." A duet, "It Is Well With My Soul," was sung by Rev. and Mrs. W.V. Carroll. The poems, "Lasting Quality of Love" and "Crossing The Bar," were read. There were many beautiful floral tributes, and the casket was covered with a pall of Ascension lilies and red roses and fern. Active pallbearers were: Thomas Ashburn, Arthur and G. Gay McClenny, Barnes and Wallace Lyons, Madison McClenny, Holland Ballard, Emmett Rawls. The members of the Sallie B. Powell Bible Class and friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the church cemetery. D.Cert. 20866 (Suffolk #285) gives her maiden name as LYONS. Her parents, Comfort Barnes & Emily (CAPRON) LYON, are buried in Arcade Rural Cemetery, Arcade, Wyoming Co., NY. Her father (b. 1828 VT), a lumberman, d. 24 Mar 1885 in Isle of Wight Co. His widow (1831 - 1895) qualified as administratrix 4 May 1885, with her nephew Simeon W. CAPRON as surety. (IoW.Co.
