A native of Jersey County, Ill., she was the daughter of the late James Powrie and Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Sherman Powrie and widow of William Filmore McConnell. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sadie Grace Lahvic of Villa Park, Ill.; one son, James R. McConnell Sr. of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the graveside in Oakland Christian Church Cemetery, Chuckatuck. R.W. Baker and Co. Her father (1831 Ireland - 1903 IL) was a Union veteran, having served as a private in Co. F, 144th IL Infantry. He left will 5 Nov 1903, proved 30 Jan 1904, naming Sadie as a legatee.
