Suffolk, Oct. 7. - Capt. Thomas D. Moody, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Crittenden, Nansemond county, died this morning at his home at 10 o'clock. Captain Moody was engaged in the oyster planting business, and was widely known throughout this section. He was a member of Suffolk Lodge No. 30, A.F. & A.M., and also of the Pythian Lodge. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J.E. Mayo, and several grandchildren. The funeral services will be held Monday at the Crittenden Methodist church, and the body will be taken to the Wesley Chapel cemetery for interment. The interment will be made with Masonic rites. ****************************************************************************** CAPTAIN THOMAS D. GRAY 24 Apr 1897 in Nansemond Co. His marriage records give his parents variously as John & Ann, Thomas & Margaret, and Thomas & Ann. Julia & Esther are also buried at Wesley Chapel.
