ADA JOYNER MATTHEWS* 

ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. ADA MATTHEWS 

   Mrs. Ada Joyner Matthews, 64, wife of George M. Matthews, died at 7:30 
o’clock this morning at her home, 214 Chestnut Street, after an illness 
of a few days.

   Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Miss Mabel Matthews 
of Suffolk and Mrs. W.R. Mullin of Tunis, N.C.; three sons, Earl and Willard 
Matthews of Suffolk and Clarence Matthews of Charlottesville, Virginia; a 
grandson, William Roy Mullin of Tunis, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

   She was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church and of the Woman’s 
Missionary Society of that church.

   The body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home where funeral services will 
be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.  Dr. John Truitt will 
officiate.  Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
