Mrs. Julia P. Matthews, wife of J.B. Matthews, of near Myrtle, Va., died last night at 11:15 o'clock, after a long illness, age 54 years. She is survived by eight children, six daughters and two sons, Mrs. Ralph Eley, of Suffolk; Mrs. J.R. Fulgham, of Windsor, Va.; Mrs. G.T. Bowden, of Colosse; Misses Helen, Myrtle and Bruce Matthews, all of Myrtle, Va.; J.R. Matthews, of Portsmouth, and John B. Matthews, Jr., of Myrtle; four sisters, Mrs. L. Rose, of Portsmouth; Mrs. John A. Johnson, of Suffolk; Mrs. L.R. Goulder, of Richmond; Mrs. R.A. Wright, of Nansemond County; two brothers, S.B. Johnson and Reverdy Johnson, of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. A.W.H. Jones, assisted by the Rev. S.T. Cobb, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Western Branch Baptist Church. Interment will be made in the family cemetery, near Myrtle, Va. ****************************************************************************** MRS. JULIA P.
