JOSEPH ROY MATTHEWS 

  A funeral service for Joseph Roy Matthews, who died Friday, was conducted 
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by Salvation Army Captain 
William D. Davis and the Rev. William B. Denston, pastor of Wilroy Baptist 
Church.  Burial was in Oakland Christian Church Cemetery, near Chuckatuck. 

  Pallbearers were P.M. Snook, W.E. Oliver, Thomas Parker, L.H. Eure, F.W. 
Klagas, A.N. Baxley, L.Q. Hines and James Willis.

b. 3 Sep 1903, Windsor, Bertie Co., NC, d. 8 Aug 1969, Suffolk, 
interred in Newman Memorial Cemetery*, Oakland Christian Church, Chuckatuck, 
   10 Aug 1969,
