The funeral of the late Joseph Matthews took place yesterday from Shiloh Methodist church, in Isle of Wight county. The deceased was a native of Nansemond and died on the farm where he was born, near Exit, Va., but he had requested that his funeral be preached from the church and his wishes were respected. They took the body from his home to church, where the funeral was preached, and then brought it back for burial. The pall-bearers: F.N. Gray, J.F. Uzzell, S.T. Ellis, McKim Nelms, A.B. Hargrove, W.J.
