GEORGE MARION MATTHEWS, JR. 

FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR GEORGE MATTHEWS* 

   George Marion Matthews, Jr., age 31 [sic; 32], died yesterday morning at 
his home 214 Chestnut Street, after a long illness.  He is survived by his 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George M. Matthews, Sr.; three brothers, W.L. Matthews, 
Clarence and Earle Matthews of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. William Mullen of 
Tunis, N.C. and Miss Mabel Matthews of Suffolk, and several aunts.

   The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company where funeral 
services were conducted this afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by the Rev. John G. 
Truitt and the Rev. H.J.. Goodwin.

   Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

b. 14 Jun 1908, Suffolk, d. 30 Jun 1940, at home, Suffolk, 
interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block F, Lot 31*), Suffolk, 1 Jul 1940,
