FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR GEORGE MATTHEWS* George Marion Matthews, Jr., age 31 [sic; 32], died yesterday morning at his home 214 Chestnut Street, after a long illness. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George M. Matthews, Sr.; three brothers, W.L. Matthews, Clarence and Earle Matthews of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. William Mullen of Tunis, N.C. and Miss Mabel Matthews of Suffolk, and several aunts. The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company where funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by the Rev. John G. Truitt and the Rev. H.J.. Goodwin. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. *MATHEWS in original corrected to MATTHEWS throughout.
