Rites Today For Eclipse Woman 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Nelson [sic; Melson] Mathews, 69, who 
died yesterday morning at her home in Eclipse, will be held at 2:30 o'clock 
tomorrow afternoon at Mt. Zion Christian Church.  The Rev. B.H. Watkins will 
officiate and burial will take place in the church cemetery. 

  She is survived by her husband, R.N. [sic; R.M.] Mathews; four sons, Roy 
H. Mathews, of Norfolk, Lloyd M. Mathews, of Eclipse, John R. Mathews, of 
Richmond, and Jessie E. Mathews, of Eclipse; seven grandchildren; one niece 
and one nephew. 

  Mrs. Mathews was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church.  The body was taken 
to the Baker Funeral Home where it will remain until 1:30 o'clock tomorrow 
afternoon.

She m. 26 Oct 1904 in Nansemond Co.  Ancestry.com VA Select Marriages gives 
   b. her mother as Emmie B. 

Her mother appears in the 1870 Census - Ware Creek Dist., New Kent Co. - as 
   Emma A. CRITTENDEN, age 1, daughter of Robert H. & Mahala CRITTENDEN. 

Her father was a Marine stationed in Norfolk in 1889. 

Her husband 2m. Annie Mae (EURE; wid/o David W.) PIPPIN 30 Aug 1953 
   (Nan.Co. #185).  Widowed again, Annie 3m. divorcee William Gray BAGWELL 
   31 Oct 1959 (Nan.Co. #184).  Annie is buried with her first husband in
