SALLIE MAUD LANCASTER MATTHEWS

   Suffolk, June 2 - Mrs. Sallie Maud Matthews, wife of Robert E. Matthews, of 
Nansemond County, died this morning after a long illness at her home. Besides 
her husband, she is survived by a son, a Herbert Staley Matthews; a daughter, 
Miss Grade Lee Matthews; a brother, J.G. Lancaster, of Norfolk; a half-brother, 
C.O. Lancaster, of Suffolk; two half-sisters, Mrs. William Ball and Mrs. D.D. 
Ashburn, of Norfolk and several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held at Oakland Christian Church, Tuesday afternoon 
at 3 o’clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Services will be conducted 
by the Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson and the Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley.
