Mr. Matthews, who was a well-known merchant, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie M. Matthews; a stepdaughter, Miss Myra Vaughan; two brothers, John Matthews, of Myrtle, and Robert Matthews, of Lake Prince; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Lancaster, of Norfolk, and Mrs. H.C. Farley, of Denver, Col., and several nieces and nephews. Burial services will be conducted at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery Tuesday at 11 a.m., by the Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson, assisted by the Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley and the Rev. E.C. Deans. The funeral procession will leave the undertaking parlors of I.O. Hill & Co., Tuesday morning at 10:45 o’clock for the cemetery.
