Milteer Dies At Home of Daughter David Henry Milteer, aged 74, died at 6:30 a.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Phillips, who lives on the Windsor highway. Mr. Milteer had been ill for a long while. Mr. Milteer was a member of the Holy Neck Christian church and was active in the work of the church until 15 years ago when he moved nearer Suffolk. Besides his daughter, Mr. Milteer is survived by a brother, Charles B. Milteer and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: E. Clee Cross, of Portsmouth; John T. Cross, of Holland; Mrs. Essie G. Haselette [sic; Haslett], of Holy Neck; Mrs. Eunice Rountree, of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Phillips residence, starting at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Neck cemetery. ****************************************************************************** DAVID HENRY MILTEER Suffolk, Dec. 6 - David Henry Milteer, 74, prominent resident of Nansemond County, died this morning at 6:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Phillips, after a long illness. He was a member over a long period of years of Holy Neck Christian Church and was active in church work until his removal to a home near Suffolk, 15 years ago. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Phillips, Mr. Milteer is survived by a brother, Charles B. Milteer, of Suffolk, and the following half brothers and sisters; E. Cleo Cross of Portsmouth; John T. Cross of Holland; Mrs. Essie T. Haslette, of Holy Neck; Mrs. Eunice Rountree of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Phillips on the Windsor highway. Burial will be in Holy Neck Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be R.H. Joyner, R.A. Wright, Ralph Johnson, Richard Saunders. H.H. Williams, M.P. Wright, Arthur Holland and H.G. Walker. Friends of the family have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. ****************************************************************************** DAVID HENRY MILTEER Suffolk, Dec. 10 - Funeral services for David Henry Milteer, son of the late Ann Elizabeth Jenkins and Charles Benjamin Milteer, were held Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Phillips, conducted by the Rev. Dr. N.G. Newman, pastor of Holy Neck Christian Church, in which Mr. Milteer had long held membership, assisted by the Rev. R.A. Whitten, pastor of the First Christian Church of Portsmouth. A quartet composed of Mrs. R.D. Bell, W.W. Ballard and L.A. Harrison, accompanied by Miss Velma Carr, sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "What a Friend," and "Abide With Me." There were many floral designs. Active pallbearers will be R.H. Joyner, R.A. Wright, Ralph Johnson, Richard Saunders. H.H. Williams, M.P. Wright, Arthur Holland and H.G. Walker. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers. CROSS, a Confederate veteran who had served as a private in Co. I, 13th VA Cavalry.
