Savage and Mrs. Marietta Evans of Suffolk, died last night in the Norfolk General Hospital at 6:55 p.m. after a brief illness. The deceased was a member of the Chuckatuck Ruritan Club, a member and a deacon of the Oakland Christian Church, and was active in other civic affairs in the community. Son of the late William C. Moore, Sr., and Florence Ligon Moore of Chuckatuck, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cox Moore; two daughters, Susan Jarrett and Carol Ligon Moore, one son, James Alexander Moore; and two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Holmes and Evelyn Ashton Yates. Also surviving him are five sisters, Mrs. Asa B. Johnson and Mrs. W.B. Umpblett of Chuckatuck; Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Savage of Suffolk; Mrs. H.M. Austin, Jr., of Hampton; and one brother, William C. Moore, Jr., of Chuckatuck. Funeral services are to be conducted at the Oakland Christian Church on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. by Dr. I.W. Johnson and Dr. N.G. Newman. Interment is to be made in the Oakland Christian Church Cemetery. On Wednesday morning the body is to be carried to the deceased's residence in Chuckatuck where it will remain until 2:30 p.m., at which time it is to be taken to the Oakland Christian Church to lie in state until the funeral hour. Deacons of the Oakland Christian Church are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers. ****************************************************************************** Alex Moore, 38, Of Chuckatuck Died July 18th Alex Moore, 38, postmaster, merchant and widely-known resident of Chuckatuck, died July 18th at the Norfolk General Hospital after a short illness. A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Moore, Sr. He was a deacon and active member of Oakland Christian Church and also a member of the Ruritan Club. Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Cox Moore; one son, James Alexander Moore; two daughters, Susan Jarratt and Carol Ligon Moore; two stepdaughters, Jacqueline and Evelyn Yates; one brother, William C. Moore, Jr., and five sisters, Mrs. Asa B. Johnson. Mrs. Marietta Evans. Mrs. W.B. Umphlette, Mrs. W.H. Savage, Jr., and Mrs. H.M. Austin, Jr., all of Nansemond County. Funeral services were conducted July 20th at 3:30 P.M. at the Oakland Christian Church by the Rev. I.W. Johnson and the Rev. N.G. Newman. Burial was in the family plot at the church cemetery.
