Funeral Saturday For Mrs. Nixon 

  [Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie] May Nixon, 51, who died at 6:15 p.m. last 
night at her home at 413 Brook Avenue, after an illness of several months, 
will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the I.O. Hill Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Julian S. Hopkins, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and the 
Rev. Paul H. Black officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

  Survivors include her husband, C.L. Nixon, of Suffolk; one daughter, Mrs. 
Myrtle Lee Britt, of New London, Connecticut; one son, James T. Turner, of New 
London; two sisters, Mrs. W.B. White of Norfolk and Mrs. C.O. Vanwyck, of 
Portsmouth; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She 1m. Howard Thomas TURNER (1899 - 1929), son of John William & "Mollie" 
   Mary Frances (SKINNER) TURNER, 19 Mar 1921.  He is buried in Cedar Hill 
   Cemetery, possibly unmarked. 

Widowed, she 2m. Howard's brother Willie Adkins TURNER (1900 - 1965) ca. 1932. 
   They div. 19 Sep 1944; the cert. gives m. 19 Mar 1921, but married 12 
   years.  He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery - Block H, Lot 115.

Her father Thomas Edward SKINNER (17 Mar 1868 - 19 Oct 1938) was buried 
   in a family cemetery - site not known (Jul 2024) to the SCHS Cemetery 
   Project.  Her step-mother Betty (DIXON ETHERIDGE WHITE) SKINNER (1880 - 
   1967) is buried in Evergreen Memorial Park, Portsmouth.
