NEWTON SUCCUMBS HERE Recent Fall Proves Fatal SUFFOLK, July 11. - Mrs. Annie Brinkley Newton, 78, member of a widely known Suffolk family, died at 2:45 o’clock at a local hospital, following a fall at her home several days ago. She has been in falling health for several years. She was the daughter of the late Richard Henry Brinkley and Mrs. Sallie Brooks Brinkley, and the widow of J. Harry Newton. Surviving her are two brothers, Richard H. Brinkley, former city manager of Suffolk, and Bruce Brinkley, of Richland, N.C., and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Fell, of Suffolk; two nephews and a niece. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home of R.W. Baker & Co., with Dr. A.L. Franklin, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
