MARY E. NORFLEET On last Thursday, May 17, 1906, at her home, 210 Main Street, after a lingering illness of several weeks, Mrs. Mary E. Norfleet peacefully passed away, aged seventy-four years. She was the widow of the late Nathaniel G. Norfleet, a well known resident of Suffolk, who preceded her to the spirit world twenty-four years ago. She had been an invalid for twenty years from rheumatism, but bore her affliction with that sweet and abiding faith that rendered her cheerful and patient under all circumstances. As a mother, she was devoted, and true as a friend. She was a consistent member of the M.E. Church. The deceased is survived by three sons - Messrs. Nat G., Jacob H. and W.J. Norfleet; four daughters - Miss Annie C. Norfleet, Miss Lucy H. Norfleet, Mrs. James P. Cook, of Concord, N.C., and Mrs. R.K. Blair, of Charlotte, N.C. The funeral was conducted from the residence Friday afternoon at 2:30, by Rev. Dr. H.E. Johnson, pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church, where the deceased was a consistent member, assisted by Rev. Joseph B. Dunn, rector of St. Paul’s P.E. Church. The following are the names of the pall-bearers who served: Active - C.H. Daughtrey, W.N. McAnge, Jr., C.C. Cohoon, A. Woolford, E.C. Hargrove, L.H. Norfleet, Albert Darden and Boney Spratley.
