NORFLEET DIES IN COUNTY Funeral For Wife Of Claude Norfleet to Be Held Tomorrow Mrs. Mamie V. Norfleet, wife of R. Claude Norfleet, died Tuesday afternoon at 12:10 o'clock at her home in Nansemond county near Box Elder after an illness of one week. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Elmira Rodgers [sic; Rogers], of Nansemond county. She is survived by her husband, R. Claude Norfleet, of Nansemond, and five children, two daughters, Miss Allie Lee Norfleet and Mrs. Emmett Harrell, of Nansemond; Elmo J. Norfleet, Richard Murray Norfleet, of Holland, Va., and Alvan [sic; Alva] L. Norfleet of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, two brothers, Emmett Rodgers, and Jethro Rodgers, of Nansemond; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Truitt and Miss Georgia Rodgers, of Suffolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Norfleet was a lifelong member of the Whaleyville Methodist church, and was a member of the Missionary Society and was active in all church activities until the time of her illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Whaleyville Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J.S. Johnson and Rev. Ernold Slater, and Dr. N.G. Newman. Burial will be in the Whaleyville church cemetery.
