CAROLINE NORFLEET AGED RESIDENT, DEAD Mrs. Caroline Virginia Norfleet, widow of the late Wilson Norfleet, died at her home in Main Street Monday morning at 7 o’clock in the 86th year of her age. She was the oldest native born resident of Suffolk, and was a member by birth and marriage of some of the most prominent families of this section. Just a week ago Mrs. Norfleet sustained a painful fall, and steadily failed until the end came Monday. She was for years a member of Main St. M.E. Church. She is survived by one son, E.A. Norfleet; four daughters; Mrs. E. Smith, of Suffolk, Mrs. William Whaley, of Norfolk, Mrs. C.W. Jenkins and Miss Lillian Norfleet of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the residence on Main Street Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock and were conducted by Rev. J.F. Coleman, rector of St. Paul’s P.E. Church, assisted by Rev. R.M. Maxey, pastor of Main St. M.E. Church. The active pall-bearers were E.M.C. Quimby, Charles Hutchins, Wallace Kilby, G. Lloyd Bell, John C. Holladay and W.S. Cross. Honorary - Judge James L. McLemore, [...], R. Prentis, Dr. W.D. Wood, R.R. Allen, Joseph P. Hall, William Eley, and Col. J.E. West. The body was interred in Cedar Hill cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful and many, attesting the esteem in which the deceased was held.
