NORFLEET, ILL FOR PAST SIX MONTHS, EXPIRES IN HOSPITAL William J. Norfleet, 63, prominent Suffolk business man and farmer, died at Garfield Memorial hospital, Washington, D.C., at 12:30 p.m. today. Ill for the past six months, Mr. Norfleet had been undergoing treatment at the Washington hospital for several weeks. Funeral arrangements had not been completed early this afternoon. Mr. Norfleet was manager of the Norfleet Barrel and Box Company and a director of the Suffolk Fertilizer Co., both local manufacturing plants. He also operated several large farms located in Nansemond County. Member of a widely known Virginia family, Mr. Norfleet spent his entire business life in Suffolk and Nansemond County. He was the son of the late N.G. and Mrs. Mary E. Norfleet. Surviving Mr. Norfleet are his widow, Mrs. Mary Morris Norfleet; two daughters, Misses Lucy Wingfield and Elizabeth Norfleet, all of Suffolk; two brothers, N.G. Norfleet of Suffolk and J.H. Norfleet, of Nansemond County; two sisters, Mrs. J.B. Cook of Concord, N.C., and Mrs. R.K. Blair, of Charlotte, N.C. Also nine nieces and a nephew: Misses Mary, Margaret, and Kent Blair, of Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. R.M. King, of Concord, N.C.; Mrs. T. Edgar Grace, Mrs. Henry C. Barton and Miss Allie H. Norfleet, of Suffolk; Mrs. Douglas Happer and Mrs. R.H. Beamon, of Nansemond County; and Dr. W.J. Norfleet, of Shreveport, La. William Joseph NORFLEET, Suffolk businessman & farmer, lifelong resident of Nansemond Co., d. 12 Aug 1936, Washington, DC, age 63, interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block G, Lot 3*), Suffolk, donated obit, publication unknown *His parents are buried in Block D, Lot 10.
