OLIVER Mrs. Lucy Riddick Oliver, 88, a resident of 706 Gittings St, died at 1:30 a.m. today (Friday) in Norfolk General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William Sheppard Riddick and Mrs. Sarah Welch Riddick [sic*] and was a native of Nansemond County [sic*]. She was the widow of Alex W. Oliver III [sic; II]. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Milton D. Chalkley Sr.; two grandsons, Dr. Milton D. Chalkley Jr. and Alex W. Oliver IV [sic; III], and two great- grandchildren. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and the Woman's Fellowship. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert B. Marr, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Rather, she seems to have been the daughter of William B.S. RIDDICK & his second wife Sarah R. BUSHELL; they m. 17 Dec 1872 in 3rd TWP., Chowan Co., NC. Sarah relinquished administration of William's estate 22 Sep 1886 in Gates Co., NC, requesting the appointment of T.W. COSTEN as administrator. William B.S. RIDDICK was a Confederate veteran, having served in the 6th Battalion, NC Infantry.
