Daughtrey by the Rev. Dr. Blockery of Williamsburg, assisted by the Rev. W.H. Corbitt. There were many floral offerings and the casket was covered with a pall of gladioli, ferns, lilies and roses. Active pallbearers were A.J. Holland, B.W. Council, L.J. Daughtrey, G.L. Johnson, W.J. Howell and W.W. Darden. Honorary pallbearers were Lyman Pierce, J.T. Jones, Dr. Edward Joyner, D. Joyner, V.E. Holland, G.D. Underwood, G. Twine, G.C. Coffman, Jake Cutchins, Charlie Dixon, Murray Norfleet, W.H. Holland, Jesse and Harvey Councill. Burial was in the family cemetery. Mrs. Owens was the daughter of the late R.C. Daughtrey and was a native of Nansemond County. Surviving her are her husband, Reuben Owens; two daughters, Mrs. W.C. Strobel and Mrs. John Tyres, of Washington, D.C.; four sons, Warren Owens, of San Diego, Cal; Walter and Roger Owens, of Williamsburg, and John Owens, of Richmond; three grandchildren; five brothers, Walter, Willard and Charlie Daughtrey, of Holland; R.L. Daughtrey, of Suffolk, and J.H. Daughtrey, of Portsmouth; two sisters, Miss Dosia Daughtrey, of Holland, and Mrs. E.J. Robertson, of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** LAST RITES FOR MRS. OWEN [sic; OWENS] HELD Holland Woman Died Last Week; Four Survivors (News-Herald Special) HOLLAND, Va., July 10 - Funeral services for Mrs. Fanny Daughtrey Owens, who died last week at her home in Williamsburg, were held Sunday afternoon at the family cemetery near here. Dr. Blocker conducted the services. Mrs. Owens, who was reared in this vicinity, is survived by three brothers, Charles, Willard and Walter Daughtrey, and a sister, Miss Dosia Daughtrey. A, 44th Battalion VA Infantry. Her grandfather Jacob Kadar DAUGHTREY (1798 - 1868) had been pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, near Carrsville.
