Sidney Powell, 75, Dies At Residence

Sidney W. Powell Sr., 75 retired farmer of Nansemond County, died today at 
6:15 a? m? at his home at Conan after a short illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Christain 
(sic) Church by the Rev. R. E. Brittle, pastor.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill 
Cemetery.

The body will be taken from Hill Funeral Home to the church at 2 p.m.

He was a life long member of Bethlehem Christian Church and a member of the 
Men's Bible Class of the church.  He was the son of the late B. F. Powell and 
Mary Ashburn Powell of Nansemond County.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Luke Powell, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph 
Mizell Sr. of Nansemond County, a son Sidney W. Powell of Suffolk; two 
sisters, Mrs. Staley Babb of Suffolk and Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Nansemond 
County; three brothers, Charlie W. Powell, Willis S. Powell and Bennie F. 
Powell all of Nansemond County and four grandchildren.
