Pipkin, of Warrenton, N.C., a former Suffolk resident, will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Blaylock Funeral Home, Warrenton by the Rev. W.A. Crow, pastor of Wesley Memorial Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mahlon Elliott, pastor of Oxford Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Pipkin, 96, died Sunday at 11 a.m. at Warren General Hospital, Warrenton, after a short illness. He was a member of the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. He was affiliated with the late Millard Pinner of Suffolk in the jewelry business and moved to Warrenton, where he started the Pipkin Jewelry Store, which he operated until 1958. He became a member of the Suffolk Grays at the age of 14 years and served with the Grays in the Fourth Virginia regiment for 96 years and received a faithful service medal. He was discharged with the rank of major. He was a charter member of Rosemont Camp No. 2 of the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katie Richardson Pipkin of Warrenton; a daughter, Miss Helen C. Pipkin of Portsmouth, and two nieces. The Northampton Co. M.Reg. (1906 #32) gives b. Northampton Co. His will was probated 20 Mar 1959, and his widow qualified as executor.
