JOHN FREDERICK PITTMAN 

J.F. PITTMAN, 55, FORMER VA. THERAPIST 

  WHALEYVILLE - John Frederick Pittman, a former physic therapist with the 
Veterans Administration, died in Obici Hospital Tuesday at 2 a.m. after a 
heart attack.

  He was a native of Nansemond County, a son of the late John R. and Mrs. 
Alta March Pittman.

  After graduation from Whaleyville High School, he went with the Veterans 
Administration for work and training in Northport, Long Island, N.Y.  He 
was later transferred with this organization to a hospital in Lexington, 
Ky. in 1933 he returned in Whaleyville where he operated his own farm.

  He was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church and its Brotherhood.  He was 
married to the late Erna Biendarra Pittman.

  Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J.R. Taylor of Whaleyville and Mrs. B.A. 
Owens of Gates, N.C.; and two brothers, H.D. Pittman of Ahoskie, N.C. and 
T.D. Pittman of Newport News.

  A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. in Hill Funeral 
Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Donald Stewart of Reynoldson Baptist Church. 
Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.  The family will be at the home of 
Mrs. B.A. Owens in Gates.
