Last Rites For John R. Pittman 

  Funeral services for John Rufus Pittman, 71, who died yesterday at the home 
of his daughter, Mrs. J.R. Taylor, Jr., after a short illness, will be 
conducted tomorrow afternoon at the Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Sydney 
officiating. 

  He was a son of the late John and Malinda Darden Pittman of Como, N.C., and 
a member of the Reynoldson Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. 

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alta March Pittman; two daughters, Mrs. 
B.A. Owen of Gates, N.C., and Mrs. J.R. Taylor of Whaleyville; three* sons, 
H.D. Pittman of Murfreesboro, N.C.; J.H. Pittman of Lexington, Ken.; and T.D. 
Pittman of Newport News; two grandsons, C.B. Pittman of Washington, D.C., and 
T.D. Pittman of Newport News, and three granddaughters: Miss Sue Owens of 
Norfolk, Miss Ellen Owens of Gates, and Miss Donna Pittman of Murfreesboro. 

  Burial will be in the family cemetery at Pittman Town, Va.

interred in the family cemetery, Pittman Town, 29 Feb 1948, 
marked in Holly Lawn Cemetery (Block N, Lot 6*), Suffolk, 
"Suffolk (VA) News-Herald," Vol. 24, No. 290, Mon., Mar. 1, 1948, p. 1

His in-laws, Frederick W. & Katherine Edith (HOWELL) MARCH, 
   are buried in the same lot.
