ALLEN JOHN POWELL

POWELL FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON

   Suffolk, Aug. 10 - Funeral services for Allen John Powell, for 35 years a 
member of the Suffolk Police Department, who died Sunday morning, will be 
conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Dr. John G. Truitt, 
pastor of Suffolk Christian Church, assisted by Dr. H.J. Goodwin, pastor of 
the First Baptist Church.  Burial with Masonic honors, in which both Suffolk 
Lodge No. 30 and Hiram Lodge No. 340, A.F. & A.M. will take part, will be in 
Cedar Hill Cemetery.

   Active pallbearers will be John J.S. Branch, J.S. Davis, H.L. Jacobs, F.H. 
Hamblin, Dr. Archie Smither, M. Anderson Maxey, John B. Norfleet, and J.T. 
Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Co. J.E. West, R.C. Harrell, Col. R.L. 
Brewer, Jr., Col. E.E. Holland, R.H. Brinkley, S.E. Everett, W.M.Crumpler, 
Sr., W.E. MacClenny, W.G. Elam, J.C. Holladay, Sr., W.F. Whitley, Claud E. 
Eley, J.E.B. Holladay, Henry S. Eley, D.F. Fanney, H.W. Churn, E.R. Custis, 
E.H. Rawles, Dr. F.J. Morrison, H.M. Macleary, C.L. Hutchins, Dr. C.J.
