CARRIE MINNIE ELEY POWELL

   SUFFOLK - Mrs. Carrie Eley Powell, 86, a lifelong resident of the Myrtle 
community of Nansemond County, died Friday night in the Louise Obici Memorial 
Hospital.

   Mrs. Powell was the widow of John Henry Powell and she was a member of the 
Western Branch Baptist Church.

   Her survivors, all nieces and nephews are Mrs. Essie Edwards, of Richmond; 
Mrs. Fannie Griffin and Mrs. Ruby Richards, of Portsmouth; Miss Elizabeth Eley, 
Miss Marie Eley and Mrs. Annie Pretlow of Franklin; Mrs. Leon Carr and Ralph 
Eley, of Suffolk; Clyde Lankford, of Nansemond County; Fulmer McAbee, of 
Portsmouth; Mrs. Edith Alexander, of Ahoskie, N.C.; Mrs. Grace Sawyer, of 
Connecticut; Charlie C. Johnson and Mrs. Rose J. Griffin, of Chuckatuck; Cecil 
Tebo and Garland Tebo, of Norfolk and William Tebo, of California.

   The body was taken to the Baker Funeral Home here where funeral arrangements 
will be announced later.
