MISS EDNA IRENE POWELL 

  Miss Edna Irene Powell, aged 23, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Powell, 
of Suffolk, died March 26th at University Hospital, Charlottesville. 

  In addition to her parents, she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ivy 
Thomas, of Richmond, Mrs. Julia Pope, Misses Mattie, Lucille and Mary Louise 
Powell, of Suffolk; four brothers, James Benjamin, John T., Alex G. and 
Russell Lee Powell, of Suffolk; and her grandmother, Mrs. J.B. Gayle, of Isle 
of Wight County. 

  The body was carried to the funeral home of R.W. Baker & Co. of Suffolk, 
from where it was taken to Oakland Christian Church, Friday morning at 10 
o'clock.  Funeral services were held there at 11 o'clock by the Rev. R.E. 
Brittle and Dr. I.W. Johnson.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.
