POWELL KILLED IN ACTION Memorial Service To Be Tomorrow Private Otis G. Powell, 22 years of age, was killed in action in France on June 16, according to a telegram from the War Department received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Powell, of Pitchkettle Road, yesterday. The family had not heard from him since the invasion began and had feared that he might be a casualty. He had only recently been transferred from the infantry to a paratrooper unit. A graduate of Chuckatuck High School, he had been employed at the Bickford and Tadlock service station before entering the service 22 months ago. He had been overseas ten months, serving first in Ireland, then in England before the invasion. He was active member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Sunday School and was recognized generally as an exceptional young man. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. In addition to his parents he leaves one brother, Corporal Taylor Powell, now serving in France; a sister, Miss Mary Sue Powell, at home, and a number of uncles and aunts. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor, at Bethlehem Christian Church at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Pvt.
