  Suffolk, Va., Feb. 7. - [...] 

W. B. POWELL DEAD. 

  Mr. William B. Powell died to-day at his home, four miles from Suffolk, aged 
71 years [sic*].  The funeral will be conducted to-morrow from the 
Hugh Williams farm at 1 o'clock by Rev. H.H. Butler, of Suffolk.  The deceased 
was a Confederate veteran.  Three sons and three daughters, all grown, survive 
him.

A VETERAN BURIED. 

  The funeral of the late William B. Powell took place to-day in the county, 
a few miles from Suffolk.  Rev. H.H. Butler preached it.  Ten members of the 
Tom Smith Camp of Confederate Veterans, to which the deceased belonged, 
attended.  Mr. Powell was a member during the Civil war of the Sixth Virginia 
regiment of Infantry.
