PHILHOWER DIES ON TODAY Beloved Woman of Suffolk Is Taken By Death Following Severe Attack of Pneumonia; Was Devoted Church Worker. Mrs. Georgia Ann Philhower, 75 years old and well-known member of the Christian Church and the Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters, died at her residence, 310 Cedar street, this morning at 11:50 o'clock of pneumonia. She has been ill for some time, pneumonia developing after slight injuries when accidently struck by an automobile. Mrs. Philhower recently celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of her marriage to J.B. Philhower, who survives. They were married March 2, 1878. Both were natives of Nansemond county. Besides her husband, Mrs. Philhower is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B.F. Culpepper, Magnolia; Mrs. R.J. Brinkley, Suffolk; two sons, J. Claude Philhower, Suffolk, and J.E. Philhower, Portsmouth; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Baker, Suffolk; one brother, J.C. Rawls, Portsmouth; six grandchildren, J.F. Culpepper, Ruth and Edward Culpepper, James Philhower, Rachael and Virginia Brinkley; also three great grandchildren, J. Frank Culpepper, Jr., Georgia Ann Culpepper and Jean Culpepper, all of Magnolia. Funeral services will be held Saturday from the residence. They will be conducted by the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle and Dr. W.W. Staley.
