PHILHOWER Suffolk, Aug. 7 - Funeral services for James B. Philhower, prominent lumber manufacturer, who died Monday, following a fall at his home on Cedar Street, were held this afternoon at the residence on Cedar Street, conducted by the Rev. John G. Truitt, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church. A quartette choir, composed of W.W. Ballard, Hersey Woodward, Mrs. Gladys Morgan and Mrs. Randolph Chapman, accompanied by W.T. Myrick, sang, "Asleep in Jesus" and "The Christian’s Goodnight." The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies and white asters. Active pallbearers were grandsons, sons-in-law and grandsons-in-law of the deceased, J. Frankl Culpeper, Allen Sullivan, Wallace Walton and B.F. Culpeper. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. (STOUT) PHILHOWER, are buried in Block D, Lot 68.
