Pinner, 70 John Franklin Pinner, president of the Suffolk Peanut Company, former attorney and Episcopal churchman, died yesterday at 8 p.m. at the Obici Memorial Hosital after a long illness. He was 70 years old. A native of Suffolk, he was a son of the late John B. and Mrs. Willie Jordan Pinner. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a former vestryman. He was graduated from Norfolk Academy and from the University of Virginia and took his law degree at the University of Virginia Law School. After finishing law school, he returned to Suffolk and was a practicing attorney here until 1914, at which time he became associated with the Suffolk Peanut Co. In 1938 at his father’s death, be became president of the Suffolk Peanut Co., the position he held at his death. He also was president of the John F. and John B. Pinner, Inc., real estate and insurance firm; vice president of the Supeco Storage Corp. of Suffolk; vice president of the Holland Lee Co., also a Suffolk peanut firm and a director of the Farmers Bank of Nansemond. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Etheredge Pinner; one son, John B. Pinner, both of Suffolk; one daughter, Mrs. A.H. Graham, Jr. of Durham, N.C.; seven grandchildren, John Franklin Pinner III, Christopher E. Pinner, Kathryn M. Pinner, all of Suffolk; Margaret E. Graham, Alexander H. Graham III, John Pinner Graham and Laura Pinner Graham, all of Durham, and one sister. Miss Katharine P. Pinner of Suffolk. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church by the Rev. H. Walter Whichard, rector. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The body was removed to the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home, and will be returned to the residence Thursday to lie in state after 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may send memorial contributions to the Boys' Home, Covington, Va. ****************************************************************************** John F. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The casket was covered with a pall of white gladioli and white asters. Pallbearers were Marvin Whitley, Walter Hundley, Thomas D. Odom, Thomas Britt, William H. Britton, Woodrow W. Smith, Wade Doughtie, Landes Small, A.M. Hundley and Henry Rawles. Pinner was president of the Suffolk Peanut Co., president of John F. and John B. Pinner, Inc., a real estate and insurance firm; vice president of the Supeco Storage Corp. of Suffolk; vice president of the Holland Lee Co., and director of the Farmer Bank of Suffolk. A native of Suffolk, Pinner held degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter.
