Mrs. Addie R. Pierce 

  NANSEMOND - Mrs. Addie Rountree Pierce, 94, of 122 Roberts Court died 
Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. 

  A native of Gates County, N.C., she was the widow of Frederick Clarence 
Pierce and a daughter of James and Mrs. Elizabeth Franklin Rountree. 

  She was a member of First Baptist Church. 

  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. T.O. Heffington of Suffolk and Mrs. Ralph 
E. Smith of Nansemond, with whom she lived; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Somerscale 
of Leeds, England; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-
great-granddaughter. 

  A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral 
Home by the Rev. K. Donald Berg.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

  The family will be at the home of Mrs. Heffington of 329 Highland Ave. 
Thursday.

Her father "Jim" James Henry ROUNTREE (1842 - 1925) was a Confederate veteran, 
   having served as a private in Co. D, 6th Battalion NC Infantry.  He is 
   buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth. 

Her mother was "Bettie" Elizabeth M. (FRANKLIN) ROUNTREE. 

Her baby sister Carrie (ROUNTREE; Mrs. G.) SOMERSCALE was adopted by an 
   English couple in Suffolk and taken to England as a child.  She eventually 
   wrote to the "Suffolk News-Herald," and was able to reconnect with her
