Pharis Mrs. Clyde Cutchin Turman Pharis, 89, formerly of the Virginia Apts., Suffolk, died early Friday morning in Smithfield. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of William Archa Pharis and the daughter of the late James Walter Cutchin and Mrs. Alice Whitfield Cutchin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1912, and she taught in the Primary and Young People Departments of the church. She was also a member of the Sinai Chapter No. 18 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Mae C. Artman of Richmond; one granddaughter, Mrs. Sandra T. Bunting of Chesapeake; one grandson, George W. Turman IV of Portsmouth; and one niece, Mrs. William M. Cones of Suffolk. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Waverly Horne and Dr. Wayne W. Poplin with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. James E. Ward, 930 E. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Waverly Horne and Dr. Wayne W. Poplin. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Pharis died Friday in Smithfield. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of William Archa Pharis.
