PIERCE DIES TODAY, AGED 86 Widely-Known Nansemond County Resident Succumbs to Illness At 3:30 A. M. W.J. Pierce, aged 86 years, long prominent resident of Nansemond county, died at 3:30 a.m. today following an illness of two weeks. Death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B.T. Benton. Surviving Mr. Pierce are four daughters, Mrs. J.E. Harris, Mrs. Dudley Austin, and Mrs. B.T. Benton, all of Nansemond county, and Mrs. C.E. Boulds of Newport News; five sons, C.L. Pierce and C.C. Pierce, both of Suffolk; W.P. Pierce of Jacksonville, N.C.; T.R. Pierce, of Franklin; and T.W. Pierce, of Whaleyville; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J.L. Whitley, of Norfolk; a brother, J.T. Pierce, of Myrtle; and several nieces and nephews. The body was moved to the I.O. Hill & Company funeral home, where it will remain until Friday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock, at which time it will be taken to Bethlehem Christian church for funeral services at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. Dr. John G. Truitt will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
