WINDSOR - Wilbur Leroy Pierce Sr., 77, a mail carrier in the Windsor area for 39 years before his retirement, died at 1:45 a.m. today (Friday) in his home, RFD 2, Windsor. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eula Mae Butler Pierce and a son of the late Jerry E. and Mrs. Anna Richards Pierce of Isle of Wight County. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, was a deacon of the church and assistant Sunday School teacher of the Men's Bible Class of the church. Surviving, besides his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen P. Jones of Smithfield; two sons, William Leroy (Buddy) Pierce Jr. of Suffolk, and William B. Pierce of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Mae Holland and Mrs. Ethel Mae Pierce, both of Windsor, and Mrs. Effie E. Nelms of Suffolk; one brother, Horace E. Pierce of Windsor; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the I.O. Hill & Company Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Richard Squires and Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
