Charlie L. Parker, age 63 years, son of J. Holliday [sic*] Parker, and Janette Emma [sic*] Parker, died in a local hospital Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock after a short illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ada Frost Parker, and five daughters, Mrs. Cyrus Brinkley, of Cypress Chapel, Mrs. E.T. Hobbs, Mrs. Emmett Skinner, both of Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Holland Ballard, of Buckhorn, Va., and Miss Georgia Mae Parker, of Whaleyville, Va., one brother, Wilbur F. Parker of Baltimore, Md., and ten grand-children. Funeral services will be held at Liberty Spring Christian church tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock conducted by Dr. I.W. Johnson. Interment will be in the church cemetery. "Charlie" Charles L. We have his father (1842 - 1907) as Joseph Holiday PARKER, although "Holladay" is more common locally. He was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. A, 16th VA Infantry, before transferring to Co. I, 41st VA Infantry. D.Cert. 19680 (Suffolk #221) gives son of J. Holladay & Jannette E. (NORFLEET) PARKER. His parents are buried in Newman Memorial Cemetery, Oakland Christian Church, Chuckatuck. Find a Grave Memorial #152871173 gives his mother as Jennett Elizabeth.
